One set of Bilstein shock cartridge tools. These 2 tools allow you to remove the large gland nut which holds the shock insert/cartridge inside the strut assembly and properly reinstall your replacements to their appropriate torque specification. Simply place your strut assembly in a vice, slide the wrench over the strut allowing the 2 tabs to interlock the opening on the gland nut, attach any 1/2 drive ratchet or torque wrench and crack the nut loose. If you have done it with pipe wrench in the past you will not believe how easy the nut releases using the proper tools.
Manufactured by BILSTEIN 1/2 Drive Socket Zinc Coated to last
These work on both internal and externally threaded strut bodies.
The larger wrench will remove the original gland nut on your strut body.
The smaller wrench will be used to install the new gland nut which came with your replacement BILSTEIN shock, on other replacement cartridges such as sachs, kyb, kofap or boge this will work as well, however which tool is used is determined by the size gland nut the mfg uses.
Small Tool Spec: 40mm ID Measured Inside Tab to Tab
Large Tool Spec: 47mm ID Measured Inside Tab to Tab
IMPORTANT NOTE:
I have seen a few of the stock gland nuts with a slightly larger gland nut approximately 1mm oversize, if you have one of these you will simply need to grind down a little on each of the locking tabs of the tool with a file or grinder.
Works on factory VW/AUDI Front strut bodies from 1975-1993 as well as many more with replaceable shock cartridges.
