(1) Euro bumper clip / fender hole plugs. If
you were not aware what the oval shaped hole in your early rabbit 75-80,
caddy 79-80 and all Rabbit conv./ Cabriolet 79-93 were for. This is
where VW simply made a plug to fit in the hole instead of redesigning
the sheet metal for US market cars. These holes held the clips (we
also stock them) and connected the front and rear bumpers to the body
for European market bumpers.

Hole in lower front fender, just below your bumper end cap.
